Hardys: It Gets Better with Time

12:32 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Whenever there’s a celebration, my Dad always makes it a point that there’s a wine at the table. He says that without wine, it’s not a real celebration. There are times that it’s just the wine alone and no other foods if it’s a simple celebration. The sad thing though is that we don’t have a specific wine that we buy. We always try to buy different brands, different kinds so we would be able to tell the differences.

We were taught how to sip wine since we were 10 yrs old (of course it’s a red wine by that time). My Grandpa always says that there’s an art in drinking wine and me, being me and being a girl, doesn’t really listens to what these important guys in my life said. I don’t know how the colour of the wine affects the taste; I just know there’s a meaning or some sort. I don’t know why do we have to swirl the drink in our glass and smell it. Honestly, it smells the same to thing to me. Of course, I do know the kind of glassware we have to use depending on the wine but I think that’s about it.

True, I don’t know much about wines and I could just start and research about the art of wine tasting but I want to be honest. I’m doing this for all the men in our family who does this kind of thing. Nuffnang is right, it’s the best Christmas gift and I couldn’t ask for more.

Of course, we’ve come across some of the famous Hardys’ products like the Sparkling Rose which I remember a lot (because it’s pink!), Chardonnay something... ( I can’t remember the exact name I’m sorry!), and a few more from crest and stamp. One thing is for sure, I can’t remember most of the drinks name because, well, it’s hard for me to pronounce! Haha I’m not even sure if I’ve spelled it correctly or not. I can also remember that there are some names that spelled like cabinet and pinoy or something which I’m sure is not because it’s an Australian brand.

So I’ll stop embarrassing myself from here and start to actually research about the brand because I only know two things about it. It’s Australian brand and started in 1853. How smart, right?

Evidently, Hardys has established their name since 1853 which makes it 160 years of expertise in wine-making. It has been passed on for 5 generations with such devotion from the famous Thomas Hardy to Robert Burrough Hardy (Second Generation), Eileen and Kenneth Hardy (Third Generation), Thomas Walter Hardy (Fourth Generation) up to William Bill Hardy, the present winemaker generation. As if lasting for 160 years isn’t enough, the Hardys gathered over 3000 awards in the last decade.

As I said earlier, we always have a wine in almost all occasions. My grandfather thought us that it makes the occasion ever more special than it is by wine consumption. It became related to our family lifestyle and it elevates the spirit of occasion and conversation. It is more sophisticated and healthy compared to drinking beers. It has a sense culture even for middle class like our family.

Big or small occasion, Hardy with its astounding heritage and quality blending techniques which has been passed on by 5 generations, will surely make your occasion as unique and refined no matter how you like it because of its broad range of sub brands that is available across the country. It has a strong appeal with the wide range of consumers for rising affluent in Asia because of its premium products.

Now that I’ve learned a lot about its rich history, I would surely tell about this, not only to my family but also some of my friends whom I want to have a special holiday for this coming Christmas. And hey, my birthday is coming up!

There are lots of things that gets better with time and as I age, I realized a lot of things that I’m really thankful for. Back then, I’m afraid of getting old. Weird, I know, because a lot of kids cannot wait to grow but I don’t. Now that I’m about to turn 20 this month, I decided to look for things that gets better as we age.

Self-confidence. It may not be that good every moment. Of course, there are times that I feel bad about myself but I learned to get up and deal with it.

Decision Making and Good Judgement. I’m not saying that I’m good at this but this time, I’m not afraid to make mistakes and I know I’ll always learn something new.

True Friends. True, it’s not about how long you’ve been known each other and how long your friendship have been but it’s nice to know that there are people who knew you from the very beginning and considers you as a family just like you are to them.

Wines. Not all wines benefits from sitting around the cellar but those that do are more delicious as it gets older.

And lastly, Robert Downey, Jr. Do I need to say more?

Fibr: Home’s Most Powerful Broadband

11:01 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Finally! I’ve been waiting for this contest! And to be given by the company of PLDT! I’m sooo glad! My Dad works at the PLDT so, of course, we have Fibr! It’s very efficient especially most of our family members are techy and internet addict.

My mom likes to surf Facebook a lot and watches TV channels through internet and My Dad watches Naruto Videos through online streaming whenever he gets home. My brother and I love to play online game and just imagine how fast our internet connection should be while we use the same connection all at once.

Have you seen the PLDT Home Fibr? It’s freaking cool! I love cars, especially sports cars (I usually attend different car shows around Metro Manila) and for PLDT Fibr to explain how Home Fiber-Optic Internet works through these is genius and catchy. It effectively explains how their connection works in a cool way.

If you we’re to create a character inspired by Fibr, what special skills would he’she have?

I were to create a character inspired by Fibr, it would be almost like the superhero named Flash from the DC Comic universe. Yep, she’s that fast! Imagine, if the hunger games just started and the weapons are placed at the middle of the arena, the Fibr character would be able to access the weapons faster than the other tributes!

It’s a great asset to have a speed like that. I would able to pick the weapon that I wanted, unlike Katniss in the first Hunger Games. Surely, it’s a lot easier for me to outrun an attacker. I can attack rapidly and won’t be able to give some time for my target to get ready, an element of surprise! If the character is fast as the Fibr, it would almost have the superhuman reflex which would be able to evade all the attacks given by the other tributes.

Obviously, if there’s a character inspired by the Fibr, it would surely be the Annual Hunger Game Victor.

Fibr, Home’s most powerful broadband, allows you to seamlessly and simultaneously experience the following:
1. Browsing of multiple websites
2. Stream hundreds blockbuster movies on-demand from Clickplay
3. Watch Cignal Digital TV Channels
4. Available now in over 800 fiber-powered villages nationwide

Visit www.pldthome.com or call 101-FIBR (3427) for more details.

Obviously, I scheduled my meals, sleep, and workouts in the same time so my body would be able to get used to eat since I don’t have regular time for the things that I’ve just said. I’ve got my home exercises and yoga videos from YouTube. Hopefully, I would be able to follow these schedules most of the time.

I also have different time allotted for Travelling to School since it depends on the time of the day if it’s crowded and many people uses my usual public transportation or not. It takes a lot longer if it hits the rush hour especially during Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I decided to give myself some time to prepare my things like packing up a snack, preparing my uniform, etc. Because usually, that’s what makes me late when I realize that I haven’t prepared my things yet and I just got out of the bathroom. I’m disorganized and clumsy so I have to prepare it beforehand. And of course, my Sundays are my free days!

New Semester, New Lifestyle

10:09 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Our 2nd semester began last week, I haven’t met all of our professors yet but it’s almost the same schedule. The only difference is that it’s quite easier to handle compared to our previous one because the standard number of units is lower now.

My grades for the last semester have been my lowest so far and I’m not planning to let continue that way or to even maintain it. It has been my morale booster and now, I’m trying to get a productive and healthy lifestyle.

Yesterday, I made a day to day schedule from Mondays to Saturdays so I would be able to use my time wisely especially now that our research for our individual major thesis is about to start. I know I won’t be able to follow these schedules all the time but I want to at least be strict with myself. It’s for my own good anyway. So here it is:

My Not So Busy Monday Schedule

7am – Wake up
7:00 – 8:00 – Breakfast & Stretching
8:00 – 9:00 – Home Exercise
9:00 – 12:00nn – Schoolwork Time
12:00 – 1:00pm – Lunch & Relax
1:00 – 1:30 – Prepare my things for School
1:30 – 2:30 – Get Ready For School
2:30 – 4:00 – Travel to School
4:00 – 9:00pm – Class Time
9:00 – 10:30 – Travel Time
10:30 – 11:00 – Dinner
11:00 – 12:00mn – Schoolwork
12:00 – 1:00am – Yoga and Prepare for Bed; Sleep!

So that’s an example of my everyday schedule. It varies everyday depending on my class schedule, of course. I’ll just post the whole schedule separately into another post. As you can see, the title is "My Not So Busy Monday Schedule" because I know that when our major plate comes, I won't be able to do these things, let alone sleep.

You might be wondering why I’m trying to do this. First, I want to be productive and be on time. I’m always late but there are times that I’m too early for a class or a meeting. I’m inconsistent! Second, as I said, I’m trying to have a healthy lifestyle. I seldom do some exercise and I know I’m not healthy. I procrastinate A LOT and I want to change it.

I took advantage of our new schedule and create a new lifestyle. I know I won’t be able to follow exactly what’s written on my schedule but what I’m trying to reach as a goal is to have a pattern that would make me a dynamic and effective, especially when it comes to my studies. I really want to get a better grade and I know I have to do something to make it happen!

The Unhealthy Sibling Rivalry

7:37 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Few weeks ago, my brother got married. It’s only a civil wedding given the situation that he got his girlfriend pregnant. I didn't go to his wedding anyhow. I just told everyone that I’m busy but honestly, I was only in room, sitting in front of my computer. I know that’s rude, I should’ve gone to his wedding no matter how much I hate him. It may be because of our unhealthy sibling rivalry or all of the things that he’d done to me for the past decade, or maybe both. You might think that sibling rivalry is just normal but there is growing evidence that in a minority of cases, sibling warfare becomes a form of repeated, inescapable and emotionally damaging abuse. Just like what happened to me.

I know competition between siblings is very common. It is just a normal part of growing up in a family. We all say that sibling rivalry is perfectly fine and healthy, but there can be times that it becomes dangerous.  It may lead to severe physical violence, psychological distress, serious illness and disability in siblings.

Based on my research about sibling rivalry, it’s always about what parents can do. What can I say; I’m a little bit bummed about it. What parents can do? Then, How about ‘what the person who’s experiencing it can do’ besides telling my parents who doesn't do anything about it? Because honestly, I've tried to talk to them and they said that they’ll do something about it. Blablabla. They did nothing. They didn't even try. All they did is that, talked to me, asked what I want and such, offered some useless gadgets I don’t even need and don’t even want.

Of course I didn't accept their ‘bribe’. First, as I said, I’m not interested. Second, it would only make things worse. My brother would be jealous of those things, etc. My counselors already talked to my mom, but then, nothing really happened. I even tried to cut myself just to prove my point, to let them see that I am hurt not just physically but emotionally as well. Since I don’t have evidence regarding my emotional hurt, I tried to let them see that I’m crying out for help through these physical pains. Honestly, it’s kind of addicting. My body craves for the stinging pain.

Anyway, this sibling rivalry affected my life a lot more than I want to. I've always thought that my brother would always protect me which is the exact opposite of what’s been happening. The things that my brother did to me would always be engraved into my mind but I hope that someday, I would be able to get past all those bad memories.

My Downward Spiral Part 1

5:45 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Obviously, it’s been too long since I posted a ‘real’ blog post. For the past few weeks or even months, I wasn't able to write an ‘acceptable’ post due to a lot of reasons. This semester, I wasn't feeling like myself. I've done things I know I shouldn't have yet I didn't give a damn about it.

This month, I've only wrote to join blog competitions and earn free movie tickets. It’s annoying. I created this blog as an outlet yet after reviewing my entire posts for the past few months, it didn't seem that way. I've been trying to write this post for a week now. There are times that I even wake up in the middle of the night feeling that I’m in the mood in writing this. Clearly, this topic is something that I couldn't write in one sitting (or maybe I could?)

Downward Spiral, a depressive state where the person is depressed and it keeps on getting worse. I got past this state. I think. I’m not even sure but if there’s one thing I’m sure about, it’s the people that are here by my side, knowing that I could always count on them.

Even though I have my reasons, I know I've done things that aren't acceptable that even I can’t believe that I did it. If you have read my blog post, Understanding Depression, you’ll know that I have depression for quite some time now but I never thought that it would get worse to the point that I’m inflicting physical pain on myself. Yep, Self-Harming. I never thought I would do this. If someone told me a year ago that I would cut myself, I would have laugh in their face. Back then, I never understand the point of harming oneself until I realized that I’m doing it. My counselor told me that it’s a silent cry for help. For me, it’s kind of releasing some of my distress and it gave me a temporary relief.

Thankfully, I've stop doing it. My counselor ever wrote a contract to bind our agreement about this. Luckily, the scars in my arms aren't that visible anymore unless you’re actually going to look for it otherwise, it’s not noticeable. For days, I wasn't allowed to be alone in everything. Technically, I didn't have my privacy which is a very important thing for me. I always have someone by my side, literally, so I wouldn't do any kind of self harming even though I swore I won’t.

And that is only the beginning of my downward spiral...

OneRepublic LIVE in Manila #OneRepublicMNL

3:31 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hey you know what's cool? Handing me those free tickets to see One Republic live and sparing the peasants the pain of not having any. Please help a brotha out.

My Mini Confessions For One Republic:

1. I illegally downloaded their whole album! I'm the truest fan because I'm willing to get arrested for this band.
2. I aggressively try to sing the lead vocals and back up vocal at the same time. (If you think that's not the tightest shit then get out of my face.)
3. There are times that I even sing the instrumentals. (Take that Biz Markie!)
4. I tried to learn all the instrument that Ryan Tedder plays.

What Are My Top Five OneRepublic Songs?

Secrets

This one has been one of my favorites especially because of the movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, where it was played through Tesla Coil. It's definitely one of the best scenes! I didn't know about that song at the time, but I was instantly hooked.

Mercy

This is one is my current favorite. I felt like I'm recovering little by little because of my downward spiral with the help of all of my friends and families. These loved ones are my angel of mercy and I can't be grateful enough  to know that they're always here by my side to help and guide me along the right path.

All The Right Moves

What I love about this song is that it taught me to accept that I'll never be good at everything. There are people who will always be better than me. It may be a bit bittersweet that no matter how hard I try to be better at something, I'll never be as good as the 'Perfects'. Well, that's how I interpret the song.

Apologize

This song has lots and lots of dance cover. I can't blame them, it's a real good music. Even though the song is sad and I can't relate to it that much, I could still feel the emotions emanating from the lyrics.

Feel Again

Whenever I'm sad and I just listen to this song and it instantly makes me smile. Somehow, I could imagine the how the persona felt when he found what he's looking for and made his numb heart feel again.

Why Do I look Forward to Watch them perform live?

Because to watch them perform on that freakin' stage won't be just a performance. It'd be an out-of-this-world experience. People watching the concert would feel at one with the world and lose track of the time. So lost, that a zombie apocalypse has started and we still won't know it.

One Republic performing live at the Araneta Coliseum will lead to an increase in personal awareness and understand and can serve as a turning point in a person's life. Just listening to their song with my ipod generates positive emotions and it's intrinsically rewarding. Imagining Ryan Tedder gracing the stage with his glorious presence...Oh how blessed we are to bask in the glory of his talent and the band.  Please Help A Brotha Out.

And on the 7th day, God said "Let there be One Republic". Thank you God, for giving us such blessings.

8:50 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Remember my last post about Globe's Promo for us? Here's another one. Globe's GoUnli30 is here and I love it! I can text all my friends no matter what network they use. I can call all my Globe or TM user friends all the time without no worries because guess what? It’s unlimited! I can also use my Viber and Facebook Chat any time! And those are not the only apps they’re offering. We can also use Kakao Talk, WeChat, Line, WhatsApp and the GMessage – the own message apps of Globe - all these Apps without the need to use the WiFi connection.

There’s no more need for me to find a place that offers free WiFi whenever I need to use one of those apps. From Unlimited Texts to all networks plus Unlimited Calls to Globe and TM user up to Unlimited use of all those Apps said above for only 30 pesos for 1 day! I can’t ask for more!

I love texting all my friends to stay connected with them. Sadly, not everyone has always-available time, and not everyone loves texting as much as I do. Unlimited Calls is the solution for that matter. It’s more convenient, fast, and effortless. However when the messaging apps came, and I couldn’t blame it, it’s more fun with all those emoticons, we use it all the time if and only if, we both have internet connection. Now, with the use of Globe’s Promo, we can use it all the time.

I’m really thankful with my telecom’s offer. I’m really glad they made this.

With GoUNLI30, subscribers get unlimited texts to all networks, unlimited calls to Globe/TM, and unlimited chat with the best messaging apps like Viber, Kakao Talk, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat, Line and the telco’s very own messaging app GMessage without the need for Wi-Fi or additional data charges. Available for only P30 valid for 1 day, GoUNLI30 gives you no excuse to stay out of the loop and connect with more than 1 billion users around the world regardless of mobile network or location.

I GoBigger and GoBetter With Globe

2:03 AM Unknown 0 Comments

GoBigger or Gobetter with Globe.

Ever since I was in high school I’ve been a Globe Telecom user. When I went to college, our university offers USTsim for free. It’s a globe sim that gives us important news and updates especially about bad weather for our own safety. 95% of my classmates, friends, and family use Globe and I never had a problem with the said network.

Though, about 3 years ago, I tried a different network for almost 2 weeks, thinking that I might save more money since it offers cheaper promos compared to Globe. Yes, it’s cheaper but I wasn’t able to use their promos because as I said, most of my friends and families use Globe sim and I would have to use a regular load. Most importantly, their signal is pretty bad. Whenever I need to make an important call, I usually don’t have a signal. After those experiences, I promised to myself that I would never use other networks again, ever.

http://www.globe.com.ph/gounli49

These new promos that have been offered by Globe are one of their best. It’s really Bigger and Better and I’ve been waiting for these promos ever since I’ve been using a phone. I’ll go Bigger with Unlitext to all networks, Unlicalls, and Unlichat. Sure, GoBetter Promo is also good but by just adding 5 pesos is better to have an access to different chat applications than just viber.

http://www.globe.com.ph/gocall100

I would spend this Globe Prepaid Promo to my friends since I haven’t been able to talk to them because of my hectic schedule due to my school works. I know I owe them some apologies and explanations as to why I’m not available most of the time. I really miss them so I’ll use this promo to catch up with them.
Only Globe Prepaid gives me Bigger and Better unli offers.
http://www.globe.com.ph/gounli25

Go Bigger
– GoCALL100 gives me more call minutes (500 mins) VS Competitors offer (200 mins). No need to use prefix to enjoy unlicalls.
– With GoUNLI30, I get real unlimited service with unli allnetwork texts, unli calls to Globe TM, plus the real UNLI-chat experience with the best apps available. It’s the real deal compared to competitor’s UNLI offer.

Go Better
- GoUNLITXT49 gives me the same UNLI texts to Globe/TM at a BETTER prices VS Competitors offer.
– With GoUNLI25, I get real unlimited service w/ unli Globe/TM calls and texts, plus unli Viber chat to the rest of my friends. It’s the real deal compared to competitor’s UNLI offer.

Now, I don't have a reason to go with other networks for cheaper  promos because Globe has better options for m. And of course, I'm hoping to have movie tickets for the Runner Runner!

The Last Episode of Burn Notice

9:53 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Today is the day were the final episode of my all time favorite series, the Burn Notice, is being released. I haven't seen it yet and I'm preparing myself for that. I know I'm over reacting for such TV series though for me, it's like reading a good old book, once you know you're reading the last few pages of it, you get really emotional.

Seven years. The said series has been going on for seven years and this is their final goodbye. I'm actually scared of watching it. I don't know what to expect. I really love this Spy Action TV series. I love each and every character in that series. As of now, I'm currently buffering the final episode at tubeplus.me so I decided to write a little bit about my mixed emotions while waiting for it. I'll be writing it here on the same post later after I watched the series finale.

*Watching* *Nervous* *Paused*

"My name is Michael Westen. I used to be a spy until...'We got a Burn Notice on you. You're blacklisted.' *Whistle*

When you're burned, you've got nothing, No cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decided to dump you in. 'Where am I?' 'Miami.' You do whatever work comes your way. You rely on anyone who's still talking to you:

A trigger-happy girlfriend; 'Should we shoot them?'
An old friend who used to inform on you to the FBI; 'You know spies - bunch of bitchy little girls'
Family too - 'Hey, is that your mom again?' - if you're desperate... 'Someone needs your help , Michael.'
And a down and out spy you met along the way; 'That's how we do it people!'

Bottom line, as long as you're burned, you're not going anywhere."

I'm going to miss this intro. This is the only intro that I actually watch and never skips. After watching the first part, I felt happy for Michael and Fiona. They're finally back together but the scenes after that reminds me of the episode in previous season when they were in Panama and they're running for their lives. What's bothering me is that Michael doesn't seem to care about his own safety now. I guess that's it for now and I'll continue watching it.

I am literally crying while watching the whole episode. I love how they use their lines in the intro to incorporate with the whole episode. It's sad that Madeline has to go. I love the sound effects especially when Michael's voice is doing the voice over. The explosions plus the instrumental sound made me even more emotional.

"A spy is never truly done being a spy until he's dead. It's part of you, the skills, the secrets, they never go away. And as long as you could be useful to someone, it's your fate to always be a spy. But if there's one thing spies are being bad at, it's accepting fate."

I might not be able to stop thinking about this series finale for weeks and even months. I know I'll always know this story because it's freaking good that I might actually write a fanfic about this when I have a time. I love when the two end up in Ireland where they actually met the first time and the details like the Miami, Florida Snow globe is being displayed at the center table. How I wish I could also keep something that would remind me of this wonderful TV series.

Earning Through Bubblews

5:21 PM Unknown 0 Comments

A week ago, I became a member of Bubblews. You guys might be wondering what's Bubblews and how do I earn with this. First of all, this is not a scam. Bubblews community is a patent pending system that enables the users to enjoy the community without any cost. I repeat, without any cost. They share the ad revenue growth with the community by splitting the ad revenue with the author.

You might say that it's the same things with Google Adsense. The thing is, bubblews split the revenue earnings 50/50 with you. You'll get paid with every views, comments, like/dislike in your posts. So it's almost like blogging with a little more earning than the usual.

You could redeem your earning when you get 25$ or higher. They could send you a check or through Paypal. You could register for free. I assure you, I paid nothing for this. However, there are some certain rules as well in this community. Of course, we're not allowed to Copy-Paste a content and use a trafficking method to increase the number of views. There are only a few rules to follow which is also reasonable.

For now, I got 5.41$ in my account. I know it's nothing but it's better than not earn at all right? Besides, I also enjoy reading other people's posts. I get to interact with them more. Everyone's active and they are all friendly. I'm not saying that I won't posting here in blogger anymore. I still love blogspot and will continue to post here. But bubblews is also addicting as blogging here. The only problem here is that the site keeps on crashing. It's quite annoying when you're doing something and then 'poof', it's gone.

If you want try this one out, you could register and be my referral at http://www.bubblews.com/?referral=522a696e76e8e0.89482616  It would benefit the both of us and I'll make sure to teach and guide you more about bubbling. See you all there! Speak Freely. Write Your World.

Vlogging

7:09 PM Unknown 0 Comments

If you have read my post about the effect of beer and coffee, then you might have an idea where this great idea (as my friends call it) came from. When I tried the coffee and beer trick to finish a plate, an idea came to me not relating to my plate. I thought about why not try to create a video about what’s happening with my life now since I don’t have much time to talk to my friends and family. Yes, I don’t have a social life, thanks to my busy schedule at school.

In other words, I want to try vlogging since I don’t talk too much about my everyday life here in my blog and I’m still having some problems with blogspot. I can’t connect to my account, it keeps on loading forever. So I ended up doing the old style, writing in my notebook. (Right now, I’m just typing all these words that were written in my notebook.)

I know a few youtuber and it looks like they really enjoy what they do. Some of my favourites are Kingsley, Tyler Oakley, Macrus Butler, Alfie and a lot more. But when I think about it, making those videos takes too much time; from recording a video to editing it. I don’t even know if my everyday life is worth watching. Most importantly, I’m freaking shy in front of the camera.

So I asked some of my friends through online, if this idea of mine is possible.  They really gave me a great push to consider this and they thought about possible solution to my wariness in front of the camera. I don’t really mind taking a photo, it’s just a one click and then it’s done. But when it comes to taking a video, all I could say is that it feels awkward. Unfortunately, they could only think of one possible solution: to get myself a little tipsy before recording. In short, they want to see me embarrass myself more. Haha.

Since I love them that much and I really miss them, I said I would do it for them. I have lot of things I want to talk about and don’t even know where to start. Vlogging would be a great way to reconnect with them since I don’t like texting that much or even calling. Every one of us busy anyways and watching a short video is enough. I hope.

So I did a little research again about vlogging so I could prepare myself. It only needs a few things which I already have or I can easily have an access to; Camera, Tripod, Video Editor, and lastly, a beer to complete the requirements.

I just made a youtube channel for this but it’s still empty since I haven’t started filming myself yet. I can’t think of a good channel name so I just used my whole name. How creative of me. I might post my first vlog here, thinking that you guys might be curious what it looks like or not. I guess that’s all for now. Seeya!

A Little Bit of Beer and Lots of Coffee

5:31 PM Unknown 0 Comments

I saw this image from bestinfographics.com and 9gag.com, showing the effects of caffeine and beer in our brain.

It says here that beer makes us more creative while coffee, of course, keeps us awake and more focused. There’s no doubt about the effects of coffee in our system. There are some people who can’t live without coffee. On the other hand, the beer part is what I’m more skeptical about. Sure, too much alcohol makes us do crazy things but is it creative? While we’re under the influence of alcohol, we might think that whatever you had in mind is a GREAT idea.

Though with what’s the photo stated, moderate amount of beer activates certain part of our which makes us more creative. And since I’m an art related student that needs a new concept every now and then, I did a little research on this since as far as I know, alcohol damages your brain cells permanently.

It may impair your thinking, but alcohol doesn’t permanently destroy brain cells. It damages dendrites, which are the little feelers on neurons that convey electrical messages from your brain to your body. Neurons are the cells that act as communicators, triggering motor responses to physical stimuli. Dendrite damage interferes with those messages, which can account for all those poorly spelled texts and inability to walk in a straight line. (But the effects are not permanent.)

Overuse of alcohol combined with a lack of nutrients can lead to memory lapses and problems with motor coordination. Alcoholics can develop a neurological disorder called Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, which can result in a loss of neurons in some parts of the brain. This syndrome also causes memory problems, confusion, paralysis of the eyes, lack of muscle coordination and amnesia. It can lead to death. However, the disorder isn't caused by the alcohol itself. It's the result of a deficiency of thiamine, an essential B vitamin. Not only are severe alcoholics often malnourished, extreme alcohol consumption can interfere with the body's absorption of thiamine.

In conclusion to my little research, Alcohol doesn’t kill your brain cells permanently but it can still damage it if you drink in mass quantities.

So yeah, after this research, my friend and I tried it. I went to the store; buy a can of beer before I went home from school. I drank the half of my beer since I’m scared that I might get myself too tipsy and ends up doing nothing. After that, I made myself a cup of coffee and sat in front of my laptop thinking for an effective plan. I’ve been working on that floor plan for almost three days since our plate is a mental hospital facility.

All I can say it that, it worked! Every problem about my plans seems so easy at that point like I can’t even believe myself why I haven’t thought about it earlier. So I just kept on drinking coffee so I could finish it in one night. The next day, I asked my friend if it also worked on her. Thankfully, she said yes but we decided to keep quiet about it because somehow it feels like we’re cheating.

Anyway, another classmate of mine as having some problems with his floor plans so I told him about the ‘beer and coffee trick’. It also worked for him. Now, this doesn’t mean that I’ve been drinking beer every now and then. I don’t like the thought of depending on beer every time I need a concept. I’ve done this for only about three times for the past four months. Besides, I only need half a can of beer. It’s not like I’m drowning myself with alcohol.

While I was working on my plate, I had this great idea pertaining about my social life since I don’t have one. I’ll post about it tomorrow or the day after that. By the way, you guys might think about what my parents say about this, they knew about this trick and also, my dad drinks the other half of beer. Haha. I guess that’s all. Bye!
