Bathroom Philosophy No 2 Continuation
Hi! And again, welcome to my Bathroom Philosophy! In the last post in this label, I've talked about opening my own nonprofit charitable foundation someday as my purpose in life. So after some research, I realized that there's a huge possibility that I wouldn't be able to do it.
"You’ve reached the pinnacle of your career. You’ve massed tens, if not hundreds, of millions in personal wealth. Now it’s time to give back more – a lot more – to society. You can, of course, do a Buffet and give your money to an existing foundation. However, if you want to be more of a hands-on philanthropist, and you want your giving to outlast you (and enjoy tax deductions), why not set up your own?
Foundations are defined as organizations or institutions that are established primarily by an endowment fund and their purpose is to distribute grant money to volunteer organizations, non-government organizations, cooperatives, people’s organizations or even individuals...Rules were predictably amended and today, the Securities and Exchange Commission requires that organizations must have a capitalization of P1 million to have the right to use the term “foundation” in their name.
Otherwise, non-profit organizations or non-government organizations need to shell out only P100,000, according to the Association of Foundations, which has been in operation for 36 years.
I stopped for a moment, thinking if I should really pursue this one. And what a better way to think about this? I got inside my bathroom and think. Will I be really able to reached the pinnacle of my career? Only I can answer that question. We always say that if we work really really hard, we could make our dreams come true. I'm not optimistic nor pessimistic but rather, I'm realistic. I will give my very best to reach my dreams however, let's not forget that there are also setbacks in life and each individuals are limited in different ways which is why we always say that Life isn't Always Fair.
I'll stop about the Career Life Talk. Another question popped in my head, "Do you really have to 'hands-on philanthropist'?" One thing I learned from my soul searching is to always see the bigger picture. What's my main agenda? To help spread awareness to people.
It doesn't really mean that I should start my own foundation. I could still help by being a part of an existing foundation. Yes, I want to play a bigger role with that, but I'm also contented with being a part of it. If would have a chance to start my own foundation and meet people that could help me build this dream, I will definitely grab the chance but if not, I would still be a part of a foundation someday.
Either way, I'll still be happy to be able to help spread awareness to the people. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if what would happen in the near future.
